FWIW, when I first set up AOB, I
did the customization for store categories, but I've since
changed my settings at eBay to use the generic eBay categories. I
used to get a good bit of repeat business on eBay and thought the categories
were helpful in that regard, right now, with my inventory mix, I just don't
think it's true. It's possible I could change my mind again
tomorrow. :)
For someone like Christine who doesn't have
that many listings, I don't think it's worth the hassle. I haven't looked
at your listings, Lorreen, but IIRC you are more specialized so, for
you it's may be time well spent.
To set
up categories, set them up on eBay first. Then, if you look
in the eBay config page on AOB, they should be listed. You will need to
enter the field to match -- I used source. Then you enter your match word,
which needs to match EXACTLY what you type in the source (if your are using
source) field drop-down box. Make sure source is checked to show
up on your single listing page settings. Also, don't forget you can't
use the top level to list - you have to use the
sub-categories. I don't know if this will
come through correctly, but I've copied my (old) setup below to give you a
better idea of how it works. If it comes through formatted weird, I can
send it privately. Obviously, when I did this my inventory was mostly
children and homeschooling books. When I got the scanner and started
selling anything that scanned green, (!) I changed to using eBay's categories.
:)
I hope this is clear. It's
not as difficult as it sounds. Please feel free to ask for
clarification.
